We previously reported on the success of the Surrey Sportshall teams at the Regional Final at Guildford where three teams qualified for the National Final to be held at the National Indoor Arena.
The teams travelled to Birmingham on Sunday 24 March for the competition together with teams from around the British Isles. Those teams came from as far afield as the Shetland Isles, Northern Ireland and the Isle of Wight.
The expectation was that our teams would do well but the results were far better than we had anticipated.
The U15 Girls team were, for the third time, overall winners.
The U13 boys team also were winners of their group and the U15 boys boys obtained a very creditable third place.
It is worth noting that in the age group that Surrey did not qualify as a team (the U13 Girls) the team that won from the SE Region were Essex who became the National champions.
In the U15 Girls Individual competition Rebekah Passley of Herne Hill Harriers was placed fifth and in the U15 Boys Mark Zingofe was placed sixth.
Overall it was a thoroughly enjoyable meeting with a superb result.
