SPORTSHALL REGIONAL FINAL GUILDFORD 3 MARCH 2002
The U13 and U15 Sportshall Regional Final came for the first time to the Guildford Spectrum Leisure Centre on Sunday the 3rd. March 2002. The meeting was promoted by the Sportshall Association and sponsored by Norwich Union.
As usual the Sportshall team from Cheshire was present to manage the meeting and was ably supported by the gallant band of Surrey County officials.
Five counties were present in what proved to be a very enthusiastic competition. Surrey were particularly successful but congratulations have to go to all of the competitors for their enthusiasm and effort. It was a great match, well supported by parents.

The U15 age groups have an individual competition in addition to the team event. For the girls Shani Rainford of Surrey and Herne Hill Harriers was the gold medallist leading a group of five Surrey athletes in the first six places. In the boys grouping Dexter Nicols of Surrey and Herne Hill Harriers was equal first with other Surrey athletes in fifth and sixth places. Great performances which should stand the teams in good stead at the National Championships in Birmingham on the 24 March where the U13 Boys, U15 Girls and the U15 Boys Surrey teams will represent the South East.
The U15 girls will be looking to repeat their successes of the last two years by becoming the National Champions
